Beverly Jean Brownell

Beverly passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family on Saturday, February 16 in Redding, CA. She was the daughter of the late Mary Catherine (Martin) and Frank Marshall Bussing of Ripon, CA.  She was 92 years old.

   She is the widow of Valos Beverly Brownell who passed away in 2017.  They were known by many as the “Bev’s” and they shared 71 years together. 

  Surviving are her daughter, Sally Ann and Daniel Owen, Vacaville, CA, sons Dan and Emma Jane Brownell, Reading, PA, Pastor Steven and Frances Brownell with whom she last resided until entering a nursing home in Redding, CA, and Carl and Vicki Brownell, Modesto, CA. There are 10 grand-children and 30 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Ann Green of Ripon and many nieces and nephews.

Beverly was predeceased by her brother, H. Wayne Bussing and sister Lavola Windemuth.

   Beverly attended River School, Ripon, CA and graduated from Ripon High School in 1945. She was a wonderful housewife, mother and friend to many.  She loved planning surprise events for many of her family and friends. She loved to cook and bake and was known for the wonderful variety of candies and cookies she shared annually with family and friends. She was a member of the Manteca Women's Service Club and was a Pink Lady and founder of the first group at the Manteca Hospital and achieved her 50 year pin.  She also served the Davis Hospital in Davis, CA while living in that area for many years. She and her husband were members of the Manteca Historical Society.  She was a member of the Manteca, Modesto Parkwood and Vacaville Seventh-day Adventist Churches holding many offices.

   Family and friends are invited to graveside services at Burwood Cemetery, Escalon, on Wednesday, May 1 at 1 p.m.
