Beverly I. Proctor, 71, entered into rest on Jan. 12, 2009 in Manteca.

She was born on December 30, 1937 in Colorado to Mr. and Mrs. Ralph and Iola Wheeler. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Calvin Proctor Sr. and daughter-in-law Shelly Proctor.

Beverly is survived by her children Calvin Proctor, Jr. of Manteca, Michael Proctor and wife Teresa of Walnut Creek, Thomas Proctor of Idaho, and Kimberly and husband Dallas Anderson of Idaho. Her siblings are Barbara Cooper of Los Angeles, John Wheeler and wife Carol of Union City and Alan Wheeler of Oregon. She was also blessed by 5 grandchildren; Brittany Proctor, Brandon Proctor, Rachel Proctor, Rebecca Proctor, and Jason McAdam.

Beverly was originally from Bay Area. She started working for the Oakland Tribune on her birthday in 1957 in the advertising department. She continued her career with the Tribune for over 30 years until retirement in 1987. She then moved to the Lathrop/Manteca area where she made her home for over 21 years. Beverly went to work for the Manteca Bulletin in 1998 serving the Manteca/Modesto areas in business advertising. Beverly truly enjoyed her career, she worked even while in ICU just a week ago making sure client’s needs were met and deadlines were not overdue.

She was known as the “rescuer” at the Bulletin. She always wanted to help out anyone who was in need of her assistance. She always brightened up everyone’s day with her sweet demeanor and her vivacious attitude. 

She was very proud of her yard and gardening was a way to enjoy life. She was great at cooking, sewing and emailing. Beverly loved being a wife to her late husband Cal. She deeply loved him and devoted her life to him. She loved family times with her grandchildren and loved going out on the water boating and tubing with them. She appreciated her special times with each and every one of her grandchildren and treasured each moment she had with them. Beverly also had a huge heart for animals; she loved her dogs as they loved her. She will be remembered as a very special lady who meant the world to many people. She will be missed.      

Mrs. Proctor’s services are being directed under the staff of P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. Visitation will be on Thursday, Jan. 15, from 1 to 7 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. Services will also held at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 16 at 1:30 p.m. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at Parkview Cemetery.
