Cecilia Nunes entered into rest on October 10, 2016 in Manteca, CA. She was born in the Azores on September 15, 1928 to John and Mary Nunes. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Leonard Nunes.
   Mrs. Nunes is survived by her two sisters residing in the Azores and one sister Emilia of Union City; as well as many nieces, nephews and extending family members that loved her dearly.
   Cecilia moved to Manteca 66 years ago from the Azores. She was extremely hard-working; working alongside of her husband bailing hay, irrigating, and general farming on their family dairy. She was a past member of the MRPS Hall and St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. She was very well known for her beautiful yard and her gorgeous roses where her yard was featured in calendars, magazines and was a favorite with the Garden Club of Manteca. Cecilia was an animal lover, she was especially fond of cats and her intelligent pet bird that she taught to speak both English and broken Portuguese. Cecilia will be remembered for her friendly demeanor and her outgoing honest character.

A visitation will be held Monday, October 17, 2016, 1:00  p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and a second visitation will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2016, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., both held at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca, CA. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Park View Cemetery, 3661 E. French Camp Rd., Manteca, CA.
