Christopher Cross was born in Ohio on January 18, 1961, and passed away on December 27, 2025, in San Francisco, California. He was a longtime resident of Manteca for 38 years and grew up in San Jose.
Chris is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Cross; his children, Sara Llamas (Kristi) and Brian Cross (Heather); and his cherished grandchildren, Tyler, Eva, Sophia, and Alex. He is also survived by his siblings, Patrick Cross, Pamela McCandless, and Penny Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Patricia Cross, and his brother, Donald Cross Jr.
Chris dedicated 42 years to his career as a maintenance worker and handyman, most recently serving at the Masonic Home in Union City. He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge, a reflection of his commitment to service and community. A passionate supporter of youth sports, Chris was heavily involved in softball through Northgate Little League, MYSA, Manteca Wave, Manteca High School Softball, and Ripon High Varsity Softball. His love for the game extended beyond the field and into the lives of the many athletes and families he supported over the years.
In his free time, Chris enjoyed softball, camping, kneeboarding, and skiing. He was a devoted fan of the San Francisco Giants and Golden State Warriors. Known for his outgoing, friendly nature, Christopher was a natural storyteller who loved connecting with others with conversation and bringing laughter wherever he went.
Chris will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched through his work, his sports involvement, and his generous spirit.
