David Len German
August 12, 1941 - February 10, 2026
David Len German obit

David Len German, 84, of Manteca, California, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, in Reno, Nevada.

David was born on August 12, 1941, in Lapeer, Michigan. He grew up in Michigan and later made his way west, spending time in Big Bear and Apple Valley, California, before settling in Manteca in 1976, where he built his life and raised his family.

David proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Union from May 28, 1959, to July 31, 1962, attaining the rank of Fireman (FN). Following his military service, he built a long and dedicated career as an outside plant engineer with Continental Telephone Company, later part of Verizon, where he was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and technical skill.  A lifelong "tinkerer," David had a gift for fixing just about anything. His garage and workshop were places of constant creativity, problem-solving, and generosity. He was always ready to lend a hand to friends and neighbors, never hesitating to help with a project or repair. Though known for being stern at times, those closest to him knew he had a deeply caring heart-especially when it came to his grandchildren, whom he delighted in helping, encouraging, and quietly spoiling. He loved teaching them practical skills, sharing card games, cooking together, and creating memories that will be cherished forever. Through these moments, he made each of them feel deeply loved, accepted, and valued.

David enjoyed an active and social life. He loved boating, RV travel, and spending time on the golf course with his friends, where he found both friendship and relaxation. One of his greatest joys was traveling across the country in his fifth-wheel RV with his beloved wife, Sandra, and their dog, Kayla, creating lasting memories along the open road.

He was devoted to his wife, Sandra Kaye German, who preceded him in death in 2020 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Her passing deeply affected him, and his love for her remained constant throughout his life.

To his three granddaughters, Kori, Rochelle, and Morgan, he was affectionately known as "Papa," a role he cherished and embraced with pride, patience, and quiet devotion. He was equally proud to be a great-grandfather and found great joy in watching his family continue to grow.

David is survived by his son, Kevin Len German; his daughter, Kristy Lynn Price; his grandchildren, Kori Ariel Price, Rochelle Kylie Price, and Morgan Elizabeth Stetson; his great-grandchildren, Carter Renee Stetson, Penelope Kaye Stetson, Autumn Kaye Turner, and Brayden Ryan Price; and his sister, Patsy Joan Comer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra, and his brother, Earl Leroy German.

He will be remembered for his steady presence, his skilled hands, his willingness to help others, and the quiet love he showed through his actions. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and in the many lives he touched through his kindness, patience, and craftsmanship.

P.L. Fry and Son is honored to be serving the German family. David was laid to rest privately at East Union Cemetery surrounded by a small group of his closest friends and family.
