It is with deep sorrow and fond remembrance that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Dolores L. Gomes, who peacefully left us at the age of 92. Surrounded by the love of her family, Dolores departed this world on December 29, 2023.
Dolores was born July 6, 1931, in Lathrop, grew up in Manteca, graduating from Manteca High School in 1948. She enjoyed playing softball and was voted
home run hitter 1957. She moved to Tracy 1973 and spent many years
volunteering at Tracy Hospital and was the driving force behind the Bunny Hut
during Easter. She is a member of the Tracy Elks and enjoyed going there for their weekly dinners.
Dolores leaves behind her brother John Vierra (Eleanor), sons, Dennis Valverde (Kim) and Guy Valverde (Casey), along with her grandchildren, Zachary Boatright (Jennifer), Carrie O’Brien (Drew), Logan Valverde, Natalie Valverde, Lila Ayn Quarisa, Amy Gomes, Adam Gomes, Martin Gomes. great-grandchildren, Knox and Tyler Boatright. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen Vierra, her husband Gilbert P. Gomes, and her son, Joseph M. Valverde.
A Rosary will be held at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 South Central Avenue, Tracy on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 9:30 a.m., with visitation beginning the hour prior. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 West Eaton Avenue, Tracy. Chapel services will be live-streamed via her tribute page at www.frymemorialchapel.com for family & friends unable to attend. An online guest book is also available for condolences and special messages to the family.
