Doris Ellita Palmquist, 94, entered into rest on April 9, 2016 in Stockton, CA.  She was born to the late Charles and Bertha Bartlett on August 14, 1921 in Hanford, CA. 
   Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her beloved husband Lester and daughter Janice Franklin and her siblings Helen Callaway, Raymond Barlett and Florence Poytress.
   Doris is survived by her loving children Ron Palmquist (Elaine) and Debra Hoffman (Randy). She was blessed by nine grandchildren; Stacy Costa, Marcy Sabbatini (Joe), Steven Franklin (Summer), Jeff Palmquist (Leah), Jennifer Toledo (Mike), Katie Palmquist, Scott Hoffman (Karice), Kristina Brown (Blake), and Daniel Hoffman. In addition she has 13 great-grandchildren who she adored; McKenna, Cordrick, Colton, Zachary, Abigail, Peter, Isaac, Lily, David, Mark, Elsa, Naomi, and Grayson.
   Doris grew up in Hanford/Fresno and graduated from Central Union High School in 1939. She married the love of her life; Lester in the summer of 1939. Shortly after their marriage they made their home in Tracy where they lived for over 50 years. While living in Tracy, Doris worked for Owen’s Jewelers and the Tracy Police Department as a Dispatcher. In 1988, Doris and her husband relocated to Manteca where she worked for Allen’s Jewelers. When living in Manteca she gave back to her community by volunteering at Doctor’s Hospital as a Pink Lady where she was a “woman with true grit.” Doris was most at peace with a white canvas expressing her artistic talent painting works of art, several presently decorate her children’s homes. She also loved to read, sew, cook, and walk.  She loved telling stories about her childhood; swimming in ditches, roller skating down country roads, and making stick houses. She enjoyed traveling; some of her favorites were Branson, British Columbia, Hawaii, Washington DC with her granddaughter Stacy and taking several trips to Lake Tahoe. Over the last several years she loved reading, people watching, and watching Wheel of Fortune. Doris was a strong independent woman who loved her family with a passion. She will be deeply missed.
   P.L .Fry & Son is honored to be serving the Palmquist family. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 15, 2016 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca, CA.  Services will the following day on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. also held at P.L. Fry & Son Chapel.
