Dorothy Evelyn Johnson went to her heavenly home on April 7, 2018 at Beth Haven Assisted Living in Ripon, CA surrounded by her family.  She was born February 23, 1924 in San Pedro, CA to Richard and Dolly Nickerson.  After moving around in California during the depression, the family finally settled in Tracy, California where Dorothy graduated from Tracy High School.  She married George Johnson in Reno, NV in 1941.
   Dorothy was head cook in the Jefferson School cafeteria for 32 years serving several generations of families.  She enjoyed sewing, needlework, making ceramic dolls, traveling through the United States in their camper with her husband, camping at Lake Tahoe, and hosting family get togethers.  She took great delight in caring for her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.  She was a member of Emmanuel Christian Reformed Church.
   Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, George Johnson in 1990, brothers Richard, Clyde, Manfred, Robert, and Melvin Nickerson. 
   She is survived by her sister, Arlene Osborne, children, George (Carolyn) Johnson and Karen (Tom) De Vaney.  She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Laura (Wil) Wofford, Andrea Blea, Darren (Stacy) Johnson, Joey Gallegos, Marie (Ed) Gwin, and Robert De Vaney, 10 great- grandchildren, one great- great- grandchild.
   Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 South Central Avenue, has been entrusted with all of Dorothy’s funeral arrangements.
A visitation will be held at Fry’s on Friday, April 27, from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m..  Funeral services will follow on Saturday, April 28, at
10:00 am. With graveside services immediately following at Tracy Public Cemetery.  A reception will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Christian Reformed Church, 517 Orange Avenue, Ripon, CA.
   In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA, 95356, Bethany Home, 930 W. Main St., Ripon, CA 95366, or Emmanuel Christian Reformed Church.
