Dorothy Gustava Johnson, 91, died on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 in Manteca. She was born on July 10, 1918 in Alborn, Minnesota. She was retired from the U.S. Army and the Richmond Police Department. She lived in Richmond, Cal, from 1950 until June 2009 when she moved to The Commons Assisted Living in Manteca, where she died peacefully. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gustav and Marie Johnson (nee Mortensen), her brothers, Henry (Irene), Albert (Jo), and Rudolph (Ethel) Johnson and sisters, Myrtle Johnson Strom (Harld) and Florence Johnson Ash (Russell), who also was a long-time Richmond resident.

She is survived by nieces, Suzie Strom Garthus (Don), Crete, IL; Marie Ash Evans (John), Manteca; Merna Strom Mason (Dick), Bethel, MN; Pat Johnson Londre (Jerry), Black River Falls, WI; and Sandra Ash Janney (Herb), Etna, CA; nephews, John Strom of Houston, TX (Binky); David Strom of Iowa; Gaylord Johnson of Minneapolis, MN; Henry George Johnson and David William Johnson of Iowa; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Contributions in her memory may be made to SPCA of Contra Costa County, ARF, or Rescue Dogs.

Interment is at San Joaquin County National Cemetery in Santa Nella, CA on Monday, July 12, at 10:30 a.m.
