Dorothy Jean Martin
January 23, 1937-March 3, 2024
Dorothy Jean Martin obit

Dorothy Jean Martin, aged 87, left this earth March 3, 2024 to spend eternity with the love of her life, husband Tony. Dorothy was born in San Leandro, California on January 23, 1937, and spent 80 years of her life lovingly tending to the same ranch where she grew up, where she raised her children, and where her grandchildren visited and enjoyed.

In addition to her husband Tony, Dorothy was predeceased by her parents Edward C. and Frances Graviel. Dorothy is survived by her four children, Janice Martin Shaefer and husband Chris, Jean Martin Murray and husband Doug, Tony Martin and wife Sheli, and Edward Martin. Dorothy was blessed with 10 grandchildren, who she adored, and loved attending their school events, graduations, weddings, holidays and many special times. Dorothy also enjoyed the addition of seven great-grandchildren into her life before her passing.

Dorothy graduated from Manteca High School, where her proficiency in business earned her a national award in bookkeeping. Dorothy worked at Koehring Co., in Stockton, California until she started her family. Once her children were firmly in school, Dorothy went back to work, alongside her husband, spending over 20 years as the bookkeeper at San Joaquin Lumber in Manteca, California.  Along with her love of gardening, Dorothy was accomplished on the piano, playing Beethoven’s Fur Elise, sans sheet music, as well as Christmas songs for her children. But, by far, her greatest  joy was her many adventures with her husband Tony, and spending time with her family. She will be lovingly remembered as a beautiful woman of grace and sophistication, cherished by her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
