Ed Bettencourt, 61, passed away suddenly on April 29, 2023 in Manteca, California. Ed was born on January 25, 1962 in the Azores to Jose and Maria Bettencourt.

Ed leaves behind his devoted wife of 39 years, Lucy, and their three children, Eddie (Nicole) Bettencourt of Ripon, Alison (William) Bowman of Manteca and Adam (Taylor) Bettencourt of Ripon. Ed and Lucy were blessed with seven grandchildren: Amadea Bettencourt, Alexander Bettencourt, Tryston Tuggle, Maxwell Bettencourt, Madalen Bowman, Willah Bowman and Beau Bettencourt. He is also survived by his sisters Natalie Monteiro and Connie Bettencourt.

Ed was just 12 years old when his family moved from the Azores to the United States. He started working on the dairy with his father when he was 16 years old and he continued to have a strong work ethic throughout his entire life. Ed and Lucy moved to Manteca in 1985 and he worked for Frank Borges for the next 38 years. Ed loved to socialize with friends at his favorite spot, Pico Dos Padres. He enjoyed watching bullfights, Benfica soccer and his 49ers. He loved picking on and being with all of his grandchildren who he loved deeply.

Ed was a man of a few words, but his presence was felt by all. He was a strong and dependable man who loved his family deeply. Ed was the ultimate provider for his family and was a loyal friend to many.  Ed’s witty humor and quick replies are going to be deeply missed.
