Everett E. Fikse, long-time resident of Ripon, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2022. He was born in Steen, MN on February 24, 1926, to Edward and Elbertine (Vanden Heuvel) Fikse.
Everett came to Ripon at age nine, when his father became the first pastor of Calvary Reformed Church. After high school and one semester at Hope College in Holland, MI, he enlisted in the US Navy and served in World War II on the USS Kittson, an attack transport ship which performed its wartime operations in the South Pacific. After the war, in 1946 he married his sweetheart, Anna Marie Van Raalte, and in 1954, he was appointed Rural Mail Carrier in Ripon, a position in which he served for 29 years. The Fikses had four children and owned a farm with 22-acres of almonds. Everett was an active and committed member of Calvary Reformed Church in Ripon where he served in many of the ministries.
He was a preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and six of his siblings. He is survived by his children, Leon (Harriet) Fikse of Banning, Lyle (Linda) Fikse of Kingsley, IA; Margene (Bill) Halley of North Aurora, IL, and Mervyn (Peggy) Fikse of Modesto. In addition, he leaves behind
11 grandchildren, 17 great- grandchildren, two siblings, Eugene (Eileen) Fikse and Jeannette Cadmus, both of Banning, and numerous nieces and nephews.
At Deegan-Ripon Memorial Chapel, visitation will be on Wednesday,
February 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 24, at 10 a.m., with burial following. Memorial gifts may be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation.
