Florence Burmeister Sablotny passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2011, at Bethany Home in Ripon, CA.  She was born in O’Brien County, Iowa, on March 17, 1914 and was raised as the oldest of five children in Carthage, South Dakota.

In 1939, after graduating from Argonne High School, she made her way with friends to California.  During the war she was a bookkeeper for a company that made welding rods for the ships.  That led to meeting her future husband.  She and Frank Sablotny were married from 1943 until his passing in 1989.  

She was the devoted mother of Linda Sablotny Spaugh (Gary) of Stockton and David Sablotny (Terry) of Moccasin, CA.  She was the loving grandmother of David Winslow, Aimee Narag and Nyssa Sablotny, and great-grandmother of Alexis, Alana and Alyssa Winslow and Evan Narag.  Florence is also survived by her sister Sylvia Christensen (Lyle) of Nebraska and her brother Arnold Burmeister (Kay) of South Dakota.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the United Lutheran Church of Manteca or a favorite charity.  Interment at Park View Cemetery is private.  A public memorial service will be held at the United Lutheran Church, 649 Northgate Drive in Manteca on Friday April 15, 2011 at 1:30 p.m.  Arrangements are being handled by Park View Funeral Home, 3661 E. French Camp Road in Manteca.
