Hendrene Struit, 83, went peacefully to her eternal home on July 19, 2010. She was born to Henry and Winnie Vis in Hull, Iowa on August 11, 1926, and married Bernard Stuit in February of 1948.  

They lived for 60 years in Modesto, and the last 2 years in Ripon. Hendrene was a homemaker, who devoted her life to her Lord and Savior, to her church, her family and friends, and to serving others. She will be remembered by all who knew her as a very giving person.

Hendrene was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Pete Vis and Bert Vis. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bernard Stuit, their 7 daughters, Myna (Ron) Gandy of Riverbank, Helen (Pete) Bakker, Cheryl (Don) Gann, Marlys (Chuck) De Jong, and Joyce (Henry) Van de Pol of Modesto, Melinda (Larry) Van Nieuwenhuyzen of Ripon, and Melissa (Justin) Gardner of Bakersfield; 15 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren; sister Myna De Stigter and brother Henry (Evelyn) Vis, both of Sioux Center, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be Friday at Deegan Funeral Home in Ripon from 2 to 5 p.m. There will be a graveside service on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Lakewood Cemetery in Hughson, with a memorial service following at 11a.m. at Modesto Christian Reformed Church, 2620 College Avenue. Any remembrances may be made to Bethany Home in Ripon, Ca., or Modesto Christian Reformed Church.
