Jake Kamps, 94, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, June 11, 2010. He was born in Montana and moved to Ripon, California as a young child.
Jake was a farmer in Ripon. He married Ann Kamps in 1944, and together they reared three children. He was a dedicated member of the Immanuel Christian Reformed Church. Jake and his wife enjoyed traveling, were avid golfers, and were founding members of Spring Creek Country Club. In recent years, reading and spending time with his family were favorite pastimes.
He is survived by his daughters, Edna Kuipers and her husband Al, Marge Jaasma and her husband George, his son Bob Kamps and his wife Sandy, eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Kamps.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 15, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel. A Graveside service will be on Wednesday, June 16, at 10 a.m. at Ripon Cemetery with a Celebration of Life service following at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church, 517 Orange Ave., in Ripon.
