Jeffrey Michael Van Slyke, 37, passed away suddenly on Monday, December 7. The son of Richard Van Slyke and Diana Franscella, he was born February 28, 1972 in Tracy, CA, and spent his childhood years in Escalon. Not long after graduating from Escalon High in 1990 he moved to Sacramento to further his education and attend Sac State, earning his bachelors’ degree in the late 1990’s. He then went to work for the Franchise Tax Board as an Administrator 1 Manager for over 10 years.

An outstanding family man, Jeff was very involved with his children and their activities. He was known for being the “Coach” and “Soccer Dad” every weekend. Whether his children were planning softball or soccer he was always by their side cheering them on as their coach, father, friend and #1 fan. He treasured his family dearly and there wasn’t anything he won’t do for their happiness. Jeff enjoyed playing golf and in his down time looked forward to playing jokes on his brother, Rick.

Mr. Van Slyke leaves behind his mother, Diana Franscella and her companion Bob Barber of Galt, and father Richard L. Van Slyke and his wife, Kathy of Ripon. His wife of 13 years, Leigh Van Slyke; children, Catalina, Makayla and Vincent Van Slyke, all of Sacramento.; brother Richard L. Van Slyke Jr. and his wife, Rowena of Riverbank; sisters Raquel Restuccia & her husband, Tony and Marie Bartczak and her husband, Lance, all of Sacramento. He was also blessed with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Jeffrey will be remembered always as a sensitive, smart, loyal man with a heart full of determination, love and happiness. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sherwood & Lidia Franscella and Bob & Maxine Van Slyke.
