Joan Pasma was born on September 5, 1917 to Leonard & Johanna Cook in Lynden, Washington. She passed away at Bethany Home in Ripon on October 5, 2009. She was 92 years old.
She enjoyed flower arranging, baking, and was an excellent seamstress. Joan volunteered her time to Interfaith Ministry and the San Joaquin Register of Voters for many years. She taught typing and shorthand at Ripon Christian and was also employed by the City of Ripon as an administrative secretary for 15 years.
Joan is survived by her children; Janice (Dave) Junkin of Portland OR, Sharon (Ron) Reimink of Ann Arbor MI, Cynthia (Craig) Davis of Torcy France, Richard T. Pasma of Bainbridge Island WA, Barbara (Allen) Wall of Escalon, and Susan (Larry) Anderson of Ontario OR; and by her 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, her parents, and her 5 siblings John Cook, Lena Martin, Gertrude Vander Kamp, Marinus Cook and William Cook. Joan was a loving mother to her 6 children and married to Richard for 62 years.
In her retirement she and Richard travelled throughout the states visiting their children. One of the highlights of their travels was visiting their daughter Cynthia living in France, and relatives in the Netherlands. In her later years Joan enjoyed the company of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Sunday, October 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel. Her graveside service will be on Monday, October 12, at 10 a.m. at Ripon Cemetery followed by her Memorial service at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church.
