Joe Horton, 59, entered into rest on November 5, 2021 in Manteca, Ca. He was born on December 8, 1961 in Kansas.    He is preceded in death by his grand parents, brother Tony Horton, father Douglas Horton and his mother, who died five hours prior to his death, Evalena Tillson.
Mr. Horton is survived by his step-mother Mary Horton, step-father Harry Tillson, siblings, Amy Crossland (Ken), John McCall, Betsey McCall, Bonnie Nicks and Mark Tillson as well as, many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members who loved him dearly.
A simple and mild mannered, respectful man, Joe grew up in Manteca and graduated from Manteca High School in 1980. After high school, Joe then attended Cal-Poly and made his home in Avila Beach for more then 30 years. Joe retired as a UPS driver and worked many years as a bartender in the Avila Beach area. Known for being an Avila Beach extremist, he was happiest by the ocean, was a sports enthusiast, with particular love for the Giants and 49er’s, loved music and the simple life. Joe will be remembered for his intelligence, his free, yet competitive spirit and for his outgoing personality. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.
