Joyce Arline Marain obit

Joyce Arline Marain, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025, in Modesto, California, at the age of 74. Born on September 15, 1951, in the quiet town of Ukiah, California, Joyce was the cherished daughter of Alvin and Olive Cochran.

Her life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.

For over fifty years, Joyce called Manteca home; a place where she built a life filled with warmth, kindness, and connection. On October 6, 1973, she married her soulmate, Clyde Marain, and together they shared 46 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2019. Their love was a shining example of partnership and devotion.

Joyce’s greatest joy came from her family. She leaves behind her loving children, Brian Marain (Alea) of Tennessee and Kimberly Densmore (Brian) of Manteca, who carry forward her legacy of compassion and strength. Her heart overflowed with pride for her grandchildren: Ashlea Mendoza (Joey), Talan Kai Marain, Damian Densmore, Taya Leanne Marain, Tylie Sage Marain, and Jaycea Mendoza. She also looked forward to welcoming many more grandchildren in the years to come.

She is also survived by her dear siblings, Linda Musick, Bill Cochran, Janet Rose, James Cochran, and Debbie Jesse.  Joyce’s vibrant spirit touched everyone she met. She found joy in quilting, solving puzzles, cheering on her favorite teams; the 49ers and Giants, and indulging in romance novels and coloring. She loved playing games of chance and had a heart that never hesitated to help others. Her wisdom, generosity, and gentle strength made her a comforting presence to all who knew her.

Joyce’s love and light will continue to shine in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched.

A viewing for Joyce will be held Sunday, December 21, at 4:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of Joyce’s life on Monday, December 22, at 1:00 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home in Manteca. She will be laid to rest with her beloved Clyde on Tuesday, December 23, at 11:00 a.m. at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella.
