Jr. John Raymond Ortega, 35 years old, passed away on June 28, 2025, in Manteca, CA. He was born on September 13, 1989, in Tracy, CA, to Karen Ortega and John Ortega. Jr 

   He attended East Union High School from 2004 to 2007 and enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from 2007 to 2012 as a Fleet Marine Force Corpsman assigned to the 1st Battalion, 9th Marines. He was deployed to Afghanistan from April to December 2011.

   Jr was known for being smart, funny, kind, and caring. He cherished his family, friends, and his dog, Jack. He had a passion for reading and learning and often helped care for his grandmother, enjoying conversations about the books they read together and playing word

games with her.

   Jr loved music and played the guitar, keyboard, and other instruments with his family and friends. He was also interested in survival shows and enjoyed spending time with his young nieces, teaching them and playing with them.

   He is survived by his grandmother, Janice Cordova; his mother, Karen Ortega; his father, John Ortega and Rebecca Jose; his sister, Heather Jandro, and brother-in-law, Danny Jandro; his

brother, Michael Ortega, and sister-in-law, Jen Ortega; his nephew, Brenden Jandro; and his nieces, Mackenzie Jandro, Kassidy Ortega, Kaydence Ortega, and Monroe Martinez.

   A public memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 

2:00 p.m. at the San. Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella. Jr will remain forever in our hearts. Rest in

peace—Heaven gained an angel.
