Lena Mae Schendel,, 90, passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Doctors Hospital in Manteca. She was surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late William and Frankie (Sterling) Killmer, also of Little Rock. She and her late husband, David Nelson Ives were in the masonry business for many years in the San Joaquin Valley. They were married in 1937, moved to Stockton in 1946 and had five children together.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, David Nelson Ives and Lawrence August Schendel and by her son David Nelson Ives Jr. One brother and five sisters also preceded her in death.

Lena is survived by; Kenneth Edward Ives (Ginger) of Reno, Linda Ann Faria (Ron) of Manteca, Jeannie Ives of Lodi, Larry Douglas Ives (Patty) of Yuma, her 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and her youngest brother Howard Killmer of Oregon.

Lena worked at Montgomery Ward for a short time, then at See’s Candy for 18 years while living in Stockton and Lodi. Lena liked to crochet, read and spend time with her family. She especially loved playing pinochle with her family and friends.

Lena was an active member of the Women’s Club of Lodi for 10 years where she made many loving friends. She was a perfect model at a Vintage Fashion Show fundraiser for the Women’s Club.

A memorial service will be held at Park View Funeral Home on Friday, July 16 at 10 a.m. Pink was her favorite color; you may wish to wear something pink in honor of her memory. Chaplain Tony Berry will officiate.
