Lucille Ishmael, age 90, of Queen Creek, Arizona, passed peacefully at home with her family by her side, on May 28, 2025.
Lucille was born to Clyde and Pansy Garris in Arkansas, moved to California with her family when she was just 9 months old and lived most of her life in Tracy until she moved to Queen Creek, Arizona in the Fall of 2019.
She will be remembered for many things, some of which were her love of learning, painting, writing poetry and stories, sewing everything from lingerie to wedding dresses and one of her fondest loves was quilting. Most of all she loved her family and her precious Jesus with whom she had walked faithfully for over 45 years. She loved to travel, which she enjoyed with many members of her family as well as friends.
Over the course of her life she worked at The Giant Orange, Owens-Illinois Glass Plant, Stockton Record and Holly Sugar.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Ishmael, her parents, Clyde and Pansy Garris and all eight of her siblings: Clara Scallorn, Jack Garris, George Garris, Bob Garris, Ed Garris, Albert Garris, Joy Carter, and John Garris.
She is survived by her daughters, Loretta Ishmael, Lorraine Woodman and her husband Bud, Marilyn Besse and her husband Alan. She was the proud grandmother of Tina Roberts (Rick), Forry Woodman (Nicole), Jennifer Murray (Steve), and Trevor Besse as well as great-grandmother to Sierra Roberts fiance Jose Morgan), Sterling Roberts (Alyssa), Steele Roberts, Wesley Woodman and Avery Woodman. She was also a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews as well as sister-in-law and a dear friend to Marilyn Garris.
Her legacy of love, beautiful art, writings, and quilts will warm her family's hearts for the remainder of their lives.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Refuge Church, 486 Button Avenue in Manteca.
