Macario Vallesteros Cudal, a loving husband, dad, Tata, and brother went to be with the Lord at the age of 88. He was born in Bacarra, Illocos Norte, Philippines on April 10, 1935, and passed away peacefully on March 24, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife and children at his home in Lathrop, California.

   Macario is survived by his wife of 65 years, Juana Tess “Ising” and their children, Nena (Kevin) Thompson, Agnes (Paul) Martin, Loida (William) Morrison, Paz (Troy) Nuanez, Juliet (Richard) Hill, Raul (Mary) Cudal and Emelie (Michael B) Cudal.

   Macario was a loving grandfather, affectionately known as Tata, to 15 grandchildren; Angelina, Desirae, Erik, Nicole, Veronica, Cherisse, Jacquelinne, Nigel, Erica, William, Jacob, Joshua, Elizabeth, Victoria, and Dominic. great-grandfather to 14; Jordan, Jude, Tess, Joel, Ellie, Grayson, Porter, Macy, Reid, Bailey, Ansel, Carter Mac, Enoch, and Lawrence.

   In the Philippines, Macario served as a police officer in his hometown of Bacarra.  He was treasured by the community he served. Macario immigrated to America in 1969. His determination and strong work ethic shone as he worked on various farms throughout California, Arizona, Baja California, and the fishing canneries in Alaska. Macario saved his earnings to purchase a home for his family to join him, first his eldest daughter, Nena in 1969, then his wife and the rest of the children in 1972. He was a hard worker beloved and respected by his peers and managers. In 1985, while employed at Johns-Manville he was selected by his fellow employees as “The People’s Choice – Employee of the Year”.

   Macario had a great gift of hospitality and exceptional cooking skills. The many tasty dishes he created were from his large backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees and the meats he butchered. On Sundays, Macario opened his home and cooked a feast for family, friends and anyone who dropped by. Guests that stopped by whether invited or unannounced were greeted with an energetic, “What would you like to eat?!”.

   He leaves behind his siblings, Pilar, Lourdes, Nerie, and Gliceria. He is preceded in death by his parents, Emiliano and Maria, one grandchild, Christina, and siblings, Petra, John, Crisanto, Onofre, Mamerto, and Carmencita.

   A viewing will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 2:00-5:00 pm. at PL Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca, Ca..  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Calvary Community Church, 815 W. Lathrop Rd., Manteca, Ca., followed by graveside service at 2:30 p.m. at Park View Cemetery in Manteca.
