Margaret Weststeyn Eastburg

Margaret Weststeyn Eastburg passed away peacefully on January 16, 2023 at the age of 87. She was born the 11th of 13 children on January 28, 1935 in Abbenes, the Netherlands to Elmbertus and Josina Weststeyn.

   Margaret’s family immigrated to the US in 1948 and settled in Ripon. She graduated from Ripon Christian High School in 1953 and worked for 5 years at the local grocery store to save money to attend nursing school. She graduated nursing school in 1961 and spent two years in Kentucky as a nurse at a boarding school. She continued her

nursing career in Pediatrics and then to the ICU, eventually becoming Head Nurse for 25 years at San Joaquin General. Margaret retired from full time nursing in 1998 after a 40 year career.

   In 1984 Margaret married Leslie Eastburg and the two shared 35 beautiful years together. The two attended Bethany Covenant Church and later, Calvary Chapel in Modesto. She loved to sing and prepare food for all of her family and friends.  Margaret also enjoyed traveling throughout the US with Les.  Margaret will be remembered fondly for her generous spirit, gentle smile and her unending faithfulness.

   Margaret leaves behind her step children, Elizabeth Anne Cilker (Bill), Daniel Eastburg (Jill) and Arthur Eastburg along with eight step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 

   Margaret also leaves behind her sisters-in-law; Audrey Hofman, Jane Weststeyn, Frieda Weststeyn and

Betsy Weststeyn. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Eastburg and her 12 siblings, Pearl Dorrepaal (Gerrit), John Weststeyn (Catharina), Wilma Van de Pol (John), Jake Weststeyn, Pete Weststeyn, Annie den Butter (Leendert), Elizabeth Van Klaveren (Abe), Helen Van Klaveren (Henry), Joe Weststeyn (Nel),

Bastiaan Weststeyn (Aleda), Gerard Weststeyn and Sam Weststeyn.

    Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Weststeyn/Eastburg family. A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, January 26th, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 27th, at 10  a.m. at Ripon Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Calvary Reformed Church in Ripon.
