Marvin (Marv) Skundberg, passed away suddenly on his 79th birthday, Wednesday Dec. 9, at Doctors Hospital of Manteca. He moved to Tracy in 1994 and resided at the San Joaquin River Club.

A native of Bagley, Minnesota worked for Safeway Stores Distribution Center for 28 years. He was in Local Teamsters 853 and 439.  He moved to Livermore in 1970, living there for 10 years before moving to Manteca in 1980. After 14 years in Manteca he then to Tracy in 1994 and resided at the San Joaquin River Club. He loved the Maddoggers and social events at the River Club, and wore his Maddoggers hat every day. He loved to go camping and traveling in his 5th wheel trailer, with his loving wife Dixie and friends. He especially liked watching game shows.

Marv is survived by his “Angel” wife of 38 years, Dixie Skundberg of Tracy; sons, Dan Neely (Lisa) of Reading, PA, Scott Skundberg (Pam) of Tracy, and daughter,  Heidi Skundberg-Clark of Tracy.  He was the proudest Papa of his grandchildren, Michael, Sean, Dylan Scott, Kyle, Dylan Thomas, Corvette and Tayler.

He is also survived by his brothers, Irvin Skundberg of Vacaville, Bob Skundberg (Patty) of Rodeo, sister-in-law Judi McCraw and brother-in-law Jimmy McCraw of Manteca and sister-in-law Elsie Martin of Tracy. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, and wonderful, loving friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ingvald Skundberg, mother, Margaret and step-father, Charles Costa.

There will be a “Celebration of Life” for Marv, on Friday, Dec. 18, at 1 p.m. at the San Joaquin River Club, 30,000 Kasson Road, Tracy.

Burial will be private. P.L. Fry & Son is handling funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 207 E. Alpine Avenue, Stockton, CA 95204. An online guest book is available for condolences at www.plfryandson.com.
