Paul Alan Tremayne was born on October 30, 1941, in Hollywood, CA to Kenneth and Virginia Tremayne.
He passed away peacefully on
June 26, 2023, at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson, CA. During his 81 years and 8 months he lived a full life worth celebrating.
Paul married his sweetheart, Patricia “Trish” Quarto, in 1962. Soon they had two sons, Paul Alan Jr. and David Lincoln. Paul’s early career focused on retail management and he enjoyed working with customers. In 1968 they added a third son, Jon Henry, to the family.
After a family “49’er Trip” in the early 1970’s where they stopped at every monument and sight to be seen along Highway 49, as well as a week-long vacation on a houseboat on the Delta, Paul and Trish moved the family to Northern California becoming “The Nor Cal Tremaynes.” They quickly settled in
Ripon, CA where they made life-long friends. In Ripon, Paul opened a Western Auto Store and grew almonds. Paul was a proud member of Blue Diamond almond growers. Paul was a true entrepreneur at heart, and he and Trish owned Rabbit One Hour Photo with three locations for many years. Paul finished his career working for Lowe’s, where his love of talking to customers and co-workers kept him working many years past retirement age. When he wasn’t at work or at the ranch, Paul was sharing his love of trains as a docent at Railtown 1897 State Historic Park in Jamestown, CA. If you were lucky enough to be on one of Paul’s Railtown tours, you learned more about trains than you ever expected.
Paul stood out in a family of devoted LA Dodger fans, and he maintained his loyalty to the Pittsburgh Pirates. His boys took him to see the Pirates play in Pittsburgh, and the last game he saw at Dodger Stadium was Dodgers vs Pirates. Paul enjoyed concerts and musicals and was frequently in the audience at the Gallo Center for the Arts, Prospect Theater Project, and The State Theatre. He loved Ripon and called it his home for nearly 50 years, donating time to the Jaycees and the Ripon Volunteer Fire
Department. But mostly Paul enjoyed people–he loved talking to anyone and everyone, sharing his knowledge on various topics and making friends wherever he went.
Paul is survived by his loving family. His wife Trish Tremayne of Ripon, CA, sons Paul Tremayne and David Tremayne (Julie) of Modesto, CA and Jon Tremayne (Paula) of Escalon, CA. Five grandchildren Tess Mulgado (Alberto) of Modesto, CA, Abby Tremayne of Irving, TX, and Sophia, Peyton and Raleigh Tremayne of Escalon, CA. “The So Cal Tremaynes” brother Ken Tremayne (Azuma), nephew Christopher
Tremayne and niece Serina Tremayne. And “The Hawaii Tremaynes” nephew Ken John Tremayne (Michelle), great- niece and nephew Kailey and Kade Tremayne.
