Rachel was born to Joseph Henry Porter and Hannah James in Blanding, Utah. She moved to Manteca with her family in 1935. In December of 1940 she met and married her husband William Douglas Winn in Manteca, where they lived most of their lives on Lathrop Road. William preceded her in death in November of 1987. She leaves her children, Douglas Henry (Lorraine) of Lockeford, CA, Ivan Roy (Gertie) of Arnold, CA, Taylor Victor (Betty) of Fort Smith, AR, Donald Lee (Diane) of Stockton, CA and Esther Shirley Winn Davis of Glendale, AZ. She leaves 15 grandchildren, 42 great grand children, and 21 great-great grand children. She has one sister Hortence Thaxton living in Bountiful, Utah.
She was preceded in death by one grandchild and three great grandchildren.
Rachel was a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints. She was a member of the 32 saints in 1947 that met at the home of T.A. Chalk that became the first ward in Manteca. She helped to organize the primary for the children of this new ward. She made hundreds of pounds of candy and helped cater Soroptimist luncheons to pay for the building erected on Pine Street in Manteca where the church met for many years. She served in many callings for the church always doing her best and more. In her later years she went on two missions. Rachel also served in her local PTA and held FFA meetings in her home.
After the loss of her husband she moved in with her daughter Esther and helped Esther raise her own and many foster children for more than 10 years. Rachel treated every child as if s(he) were her own. She loved the Lord and wanted to serve others for him.

Her service will be held graveside at Park View Cemetery at 2p.m. April, 12, 2016.
