Ralph Grau Sr., 88, entered into rest on October 6, 2011 in Manteca, California.  He was born on June 3, 1923 in Manning, Iowa.

Mr. Grau is survived by his wife of 38 years, Theresa Grau, his children are Robert R. Grau, Michael Grau and his wife Dottie, Mary Truffa, Cheryl Blake, Vincent Truffa and his wife Denise, and Terri Ann Dunn and her husband Craig. His grandchildren are Shannon Pantoja, Darcy Goulart and her husband Jeremy, James Truffa and his wife Jennifer, Matthew Truffa, Steven Truffa, Raymond Seabrough, Daniel Dunn, Katherine Truffa, Casey Cox, and Derrick Cox. His great-grandchildren are Jonathon Pantoja, Samuel Goulart, Lucas Goulart, and Braden Truffa. In addition, Ralph had one surviving sister Edna Mitzer.

Ralph worked for the government for over 49 years for Rough and Ready Islands in the Shipping and Receiving Department. He proudly served his country through the United States Marines from 1940-1944.  When serving his country he served in Iwo Jima as he was one of the last 14 survivors left in the state of California. While in Iwo Jima, he was wounded twice and received his Purple Heart medal.  Ralph loved to square dance with his wife Theresa and he enjoyed camping.  He will be missed.

Mr. Grau’s services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home.  His memorial Mass service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2011 at 12:00 noon at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church 505 E. North St. Manteca.  He will be laid to rest at a later date at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Anthony’s School Fund at 323 N.
