A lifelong resident of Manteca, Samuel Okamoto, born on August 11, 1954, passed away on August 13, 2025, at the age of 71.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Takeo and Hatsuyo Okamoto. Samuel is survived by his two siblings, Jun (Wendy) and Kim Okamoto, and one cherished nephew, Ryan Okamoto.
Samuel graduated from East Union High School in 1972. Shortly after, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he was honorably discharged after four years of service. Following his time in the military, Samuel went on to work for the City of Tracy in the sanitation division, dedicating 30 years of his career before retiring. His commitment to hard work and service left a lasting mark on both his workplace and community.
In his younger years, Samuel studied judo, earning his black belt through discipline and determination. He was a past member of the Manteca Sportsman Club Cowboy Shoot where he was fondly known as California Kid. His passion for shooting continued throughout his life and frequently spent time at the gun range. Known for his love of conversation, Samuel cherished meaningful discussions and had a gift for connecting with those around him.
