Beloved Realtor, Mentor, Adventurer, and Friend Stephen Haskins Reid, a respected Realtor and community member passed away peacefully on New Years Day, leaving behind a legacy of friendship, dedication, and service. Born in Oakdale, California, to John Muir Reid and Marialys Reid, Steve’s life was marked by deep connections and lasting impact.
Steve began his real estate career in 1974, in Sonora, where he built lifelong friendships. In 1978, he moved to Walnut Creek to partner with his late brotherin-law, George B. Watts, adding property management and real estate investing to his expertise. In 1981, he relocated to Manteca and joined the Central Valley Association of Realtors (CVAR).
A California Association of Realtors, Honorary Memberfor-Life, and member of the CVAR Masters Club and the Central Valley Master Mind Group, Steve was an active and valuable member of the community. He was passionate about mentorship and professional growth, believing strongly that “knowledge is power.” Committed to giving back,
Steve was also an active member of the Manteca Masonic Lodge and the B2B Fellowship, where he focused on service to others in need. His life reflected dedication to family, friends, and community. A decendant of conservationist John Muir, Steve was a true adventurer at heart. He cherished time exploring the beauty of Yosemite, relaxing in Gualala, or simply enjoying life’s simple pleasuresreading, photography, golf, and fishing. His passion for life and the people he loved was evident in everything he did.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, sister Judith Margurite Watts, brother, John Muir Reid Jr., niece, Lisa Watts Perea, and is survived by life partner Brenda Foret-Reiss, sister-inlaw, Gayle Mayhew, nieces and nephews, Kimberly, Daniel, Jamison, Carina, Tamuria, Maeghan, as well as, great nieces and nephews, David, Colby, Margurite, Oliver and Lilah.
Steve’s legacy of love, service and adventure will live on in the hearts or all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
