Vina Smith, age 94, entered into rest on June 6, 2012 in Ripon. She was born on September 8, 1917 at Avila Ranch on Roberts Island, CA. Vina was a lifetime resident of San Joaquin County. She is preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Raymond Smith and her parents Homer and Anna (Avila) Brooks.

Vina is survived by her children; William H. Smith (Nancy) and Myrna Gish (Chet) all of Lathrop, her grandchildren; Lisa Xavier (Mike), William H. Smith, Raymond Gish (Lisa), Raymond Sean Smith (Lynn) and John Gish (Joy), great grandchildren; Sheree Wise (Matt), Walter Van Olden, Kristi Xavier, Alexander Xavier, Abigail Smith, Hannah Gish, John Gish, Sydney Gish, and Carson Smith, her sister, Dolores Baker (Stanley) of Yreka and sister-in-law, Phyllis Brooks of Manteca.

 Vina was the owner and partner of R and J.E. Smith Tree Nursery in Lathrop. She enjoyed going to lunch with her friends. Vina took care of her family and would make them custard when they were ill. She cherished her grandchildren and enjoyed teaching them to cook. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

 Services for Vina Smith have been entrusted to PL Fry and Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. A visitation will be held on Monday, June 11, 2012, 1pm to 7pm at PL Fry & Son. A Chapel Service will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Park View Chapel, 3661 E. French Camp Road, Manteca. Final resting place will be Park View Mausoleum.
