In his senior yearbook, he was voted "Best Physique," a reflection of his athletic dedication and discipline that would define much of his life. Football was his passion. He played in high school and went on to attend Taft College, where he earned All-American honors in 1966 as a freshman. He later played at both the University of the Pacific and the University of San Francisco. After college his path shifted when he was called to serve his country in the United States Army.  Following his military service, Bill returned home and continued his love of athletics. Alongside classmates, he played catcher on a traveling fast-pitch baseball team competing throughout the region for many years.

Bill dedicated his professional life to education. He began as a teacher and coach at Manteca High School where he coached junior varsity football and girls softball. He also coached junior varsity football at Linden High School during his childrens' school years. He later transferred to the San Joaquin County Office of Education where he worked for 15 years teaching high-risk youth, helping them learn valuable trades and life skills. He positively impacted countless young lives.

A devoted family man, Bill was deeply involved in his children's activities, from sports to FFA. He coached many teams over the years and cherished supporting his kids in all they pursued. He and his wife Marlene (Frisk) made their home in Linden for 47 years, embracing country life, which he loved. His in-laws meant the world to him, and family was always at the center of his life.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Marlene; his sons; Ryan Mendosa (Kristi), Justun Mendosa, and Joshua Mendosa (Morgan); his grandchildren ;Brendan and Chase; and his siblings Jack Mendosa and Renee Williams.
