Once again, Mantecans flocked to the Kiwanis Club tradition of renewing old friendships over breakfast before the red, white and blue parade down Main Street with the help of the noon Rotary Club. It was definitely a fabled “Mayberry RFD” group of people enjoying each other’s company with old timers and new comers to the community alike. With the current theme of “Making a Difference,” Rotarians stepped up to balance the shortage in manpower at the event with a dozen or so of their club manning the grill, flipping pancakes and filling in at other key locations while bringing all their kitchen equipment in their trailer.
