Left behind

Karen and I have joined a Christian Bible Study group that is studying the book called ‘Left Behind’ written by Tim Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins.  It’s quite a story about the Earth’s Last Days.  It does give us a whole new way to look at what s going to happen when Jesus comes back and gets us.  Wow!

According to these authors, it is going to be something to behold.  Our little group is also a prayer group. They have been praying for my eye surgery to get approved.  (I have been waiting for a while to get approved by the insurance company to have my cataract removed that has taken over my sight in my left eye.)  Well our prayers have been answered and the doctor has agreed that this operation is needed.  I will find out just exactly when in a few days.  Yes, you might say that I am excited.  I have found out how important having two eyes working is.  Even typing is a slow process with only one eye.  We do take so much for granted.  I give thanks to the Lord for this blessing.

I see other people who have lost the use of things on their bodies and am reminded of how fortunate I am.  I think the song goes like this:

“Count your blessings, count them one by one, count your many blessings, see what God has done.”    Have you counted your blessings lately?  I am going to encourage you to do that today.

On another note:  I guess my days of being accurate with the movie reviews are numbered.  The reason being that when I went to the movie “Slum Dog Millionaire” I was so under impressed and so was Karen that we both rated it less that a 5 on our scale of 1 – 10.  I kept waiting for something special to happen, but it didn’t.  This movie in my opinion was not a good movie at all.  The only redeeming thing was that it was not a porno movie.  Boy were we wrong!!  It won a zillion academy awards including Best Picture.  Like Popeye says.. “Well Blow me over!”  And to compound my total lack of movie rating ability was another movie I went to a couple of days ago called “Milk”.  This is a movie about Harvey, the gay supervisor in San Francisco who was killed a few years ago.  The movie was all about the gay movement.  I did see some good acting by Sean Penn, but it just wasn’t my cup of tea especially the part where the guys kiss each other.  Yuk.  Talk about knocking me out of my seat right there in the movie theatre.  No thanks.  I can do without those kinds of scenes.  I rated this one a 2.  Sorry Sean.

This weekend I am looking for a good movie to go to.  I want to take Karen to a feel good movie that will get us laughing, eat some hot, heavy on the butter popcorn, sit back and relax and enjoy the movies.  Maybe I need a Walt Disney movie to balance out the score.  Know of any?  Call me at 607-6651 and let me know.

OK, it’s that time again.  It’s time to do a spell check, correct my mistakes and get this one off to Dennis Wyatt.  That means its time for me to remind you to go to your favorite church today and if you don’t have a favorite, come and join Karen and me at Crossroads Grace Community Church on Moffat Blvd.  We sit very near the front row during the 10:45 morning worship.  Great music, Fantastic message and Outstanding fellowship.  Come and join us.  Till next week, you keep reading and I’ll keep writin and if you have anything to talk about you can reach me on my cell phone at 209 607-6651.  Don’t be left Behind..

See ya then.  Sid
