Mistlin giving Ripon indoor soccer facility

Over the years, Tony Mistlin has donated well over $9 million towards the park named in his honor.

The Ripon businessman and philanthropist is looking to make yet another donation to the Mistlin Sports Park – an indoor soccer facility.

At Wednesday’s 5:30 p.m. special session, the Ripon City Council will look to OK a site access agreement for the 20,000-square-foot indoor soccer facility. This would allow Mistlin and his contractor, DeGraff Development, access to complete the necessary improvments.

Included would be synthetic playing turf, bleaches, heating & air conditioning, restrooms, and landscaping and ADA accessibility.

According to staff report, this parcel located west of the park’s western access road – across from the parking lot – has not yet been annexed to the City of Ripon and is located within San Joaquin County.

In order to move forward, the City will be required to enter into an out-of-area service agreement with the Local Agency Formation Commission and SJC.

While this project would not require any financial commitment towards the construction of the facility, the City is still responsible for taking care of the site review process, completing the environmental review, paying habitat mitigation fees, and processing the out-of-service area agreements.

The meeting will take place in the Council Chambers, 259 N. Wilma Ave.

Other agenda items include:

uCongestion Mitigation and Air Quality Grant Project – Elected leaders will look to authorize staff to complete the CMAQ application necessary for the Stockton Avenue sidewalk project.

uDonation – Diamond Pet Foods is scheduled to present an unmanned aircraft system to Ripon Police Department for use and operation.

uElectric Motorcycle – The City will look to exchange two 2013 Zero DS motorcycles to the Tracy Police Department for two 2014 Harley Davidson Electra Glide motorcycles.
