Former Sierra High standout Lucas Widmer had a hand in helping Azusa Pacific’s football team capture a share of its fourth Great Northwest Athletic Conference title in six years last Saturday. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound junior tight end caught a 3-yard touchdown pass during the Cougars’ fourth-quarter rally that culminated in a 42-35 win over No. 18-ranked Central Washington. They also qualified for the NCAA Division II playoffs. Seeded seventh in Region Four, Azusa Pacific (8-3) faces No. 2 Tarleton State (10-0) on Saturday.
