The Manteca High Buffaloes took care of the main event at Friday's homecoming game, disposing Lincoln, 51-14.

Senior quarterback Owen Gully threw for five touchdowns, while junior running back Nikko Juarez racked up a game-high 129 yards on 19 carries, scoring twice.

But it was Kyrin Barajas who was all over the place in the first half. The senior linebacker had several stops for losses and a sack against the Trojans (2-3).

His pick-6 theft early in the game opened the scoring for Manteca.

"Our defense has been our motor," said Buffaloes coach Mark Varnum.

Juarez ran on the two-point conversion, making it 8-0.

Jayden Harris quickly got in the act with an interception to give his team the short field.

A few plays later, Juarez hauled in a 10-yard touchdown strike from Gully as the Buffaloes built up a 15-0 advantage.

Manteca took over on downs not too long after, with Gully hitting Martinez on a 33-yard TD.

The Trojans, trailing 22-0, finally got their offense untracked with quarterback Julian Perez finding Rene Garcia III on a 9-yard touchdown pass midway through the second quarter.

Manteca — ranked fifth in MaxPreps NorCal’s Top 20 — made it 30-6 right before the half.

Gully connected with Nate Slikker on a quick-strike 41-yard score.

The Buffaloes picked up where they left off in the third with Juarez breaking loose on a 40-yard scoring jaunt. Quinn Martinez's 18-yard catch helped set up the play.

Gully, who was 12 of 19 for 152 yards and on interception, hit Jaylin Harris on a short pass for his fifth TD pass.

"Our offense was much better today, but we still left a few points out there," said Varnum.

Manteca closed out non-league play unbeaten, and will open up Valley Oak League next week at Central Catholic.
