It was nearly mission impossible for Weston Ranch High Friday.

The Valley Oak League’s top-team rolled out the welcome mats for the Cougars, yet they were hardly gracious hosts, setting the blowout in motion with four touchdowns in the game’s first 11 minutes and finishing off Weston Ranch with a 54-0 VOL loss.

The Cougars did not help their cause, turning the ball over in the first quarter and eliminating any shot at the league upset. Oakdale (5-0, 7-1 overall) scored early and often, putting together a stretch run in the second quarter where they scored three touchdowns in a six-minute span.

Weston Ranch found itself looking at a 47-0 halftime deficit and had no answer.

The Cougars (2-3, 4-4) will have to find a way to close out the season on back-to-back victories if they plan on making the Sac-Joaquin Section Postseason. Weston Ranch closes with the Kimball Jaguars followed by the Sierra Timberwolves. Five victories will not be enough to land Weston Ranch a spot, so not stringing together consecutive wins will leave the Cougars on the outside looking in.
