Manteca scored two first-quarter touchdowns Thursday and never looked back in a 21-0 shutout of Granite Bay in non-league freshman football action.
David Grisham (16 carries, 89 yards) got those first two touchdowns on runs of 16 and 18 yards.
Daryl Carpenter (2 of 5 passing, 91 yards) added a 58-yard touchdown pass to Christian Dell’Osso.
Dean Sortonis (fumble recovery) paced the Buffaloes defense with 13 tackles and Lucas Ruiz added 11 stops.
Ripon 7, Sonora 6
With the Indians leading 7-6, the Wildcats faked a conversion kick in the fourth quarter. Kaeo Sanchez and Sam Torkelson pressured the would-be quarterback and great coverage by Jaden Beccerra and Gavin Decena forced the throw to sail out of the end zone, keeping Sonora from taking the lead.
Ripon’s Kaeo Sanchez (13 carries, 50 yards; one reception, 30 yards) scored on a 2-yard run in the second period. Anthony Alves and Xabriel Reyes also contributed to the offense.
Dylan Parker paced the Indians defense with five tackles. Decena (interception), Reyes (forced fumble) and Julius Simien added four stops apiece and Kaeo Sanchez (fumble recovery) made three tackles.
Central Catholic 20, Sierra 7
Isaac Kempf threw for nearly 200 yards with one touchdown to pace the Timberwolves.
Kempf was 5 of 17 passing for 178 yards with a 90-yard scoring pass to C.J. Simas. Jimmy Burns pulled in two receptions for 88 yards.
Sierra’s David Verdusco made 11 tackles. Mateo Munoz added 10 stops, Simas and Adrian Ochoa had eight tackles each, Nate Soto seven, Kian Mejia six and Alberto Cervantes five.
