MHS freshman add Gregori to schedule

The Manteca High freshman football team has filled the vacancy on its schedule.

The Buffaloes will travel to Gregori on Oct. 23 – the same week the sophomore and varsity teams play Weston Ranch in a Valley Oak League contest.

Head coach Brian Rohles began looking for an opponent for that time slot after learning on Tuesday that this week game with Argonaut had been canceled.

The Mustangs – a small school from the Mother Lode – have just 13 players on the freshman roster.

The search for a replacement didn’t take long.

The Jaguars are the City of Modesto’s newest school, and they’ll fill a hole in the schedule created when Weston Ranch was unable to field a freshman football team.

Kickoff for their Oct. 23 meeting is 5 p.m.

The Buffaloes made a splashy debut last week, defeating Central Valley 42-6 in their opener.

Manteca is back in action on Sept. 11 with a home game against Enochs of Modesto. It will be the first four consecutive home games for the Buffaloes, which play six times at Guss Schmeidt Field.
