RIPON — Senior-heavy Ripon Christian honored its veteran players Friday in what was their final Southern League home game and a 54-0 rout of Denair.
Quarterback Travis Zuidervaart was near-perfect, completing six of seven passes for 112 yards and three touchdowns. He also connected with 6-foot-6 tight end Ty Beidleman for a two-point conversion.
Zuidervaart got the Knights (3-2 SL, 6-2 overall) rolling with a 44-yard touchdown strike to Jonah Lewis. Their next drive was punctuated by Lewis’ 7-yard scamper.
Ripon Christian held leads of 22-0 and 42-0 in the first two quarters. Zuidervaart also hit Beidleman for a 17-yard TD and Connor McGovern from 23 yards out for another score. McGovern finished with two touchdowns, the other a 5-yard run in the first quarter.
Derek Dotinga, Willem Hoekstra and Zach Cortright scored Ripon Christian’s last three touchdowns on runs of 2, 2 and 14 yards, respectively. Dotinga was the team’s leading rusher with 79 yards on 15 touches.
Ethan McMurray highlighted the defenses with a 48-yard interception return. Brian Thomas recovered a fumble for another turnover, and senior captain Seth Silveira blocked a punt.
