By Manteca’s Dom Rea ran wild for Manteca on Thursday with five touchdowns in a 54-8 thumping of Lathrop in homecoming Valley Oak League sophomore action at Guss Schmiedt Field.
Rea (3 receptions, 105 yards) pulled in a pair of 40-yard touchdown passes from Ryan Ward (6 of 11 passing, 145 yards, three touchdowns). He also scored on a 2-yard run, a 28-yard interception return and a 57-yard punt return.
Ward had a 10-yard scoring pass to Isaac Searcy and Searcy also scored on a 20-yard run. The Spartans scored on the last play from scrimmage on an 11-yard pass from Julian Chavez to Ibuko Ladunni.
Sunny Dozier led the Buffaloes defense with seven tackles and a forced fumble. Rea and Domonic Soto added four stops each with Marc Buenrostro (interception, fumble recovery) and Allan Orellana made three tackles apiece.
East Union 35,
TRACY – With the Lancers leading by just a point going into the fourth quarter, Eric Morales snuck in from the 1-yard line in the final period to cement the win for East Union at Don Nicholson Stadium.
Leo Bonilla was the workhorse for the Lancers, gaining 157 yards on 27 carries with scoring runs of 2 and 9 yards. Anthony Salcido scored on a 7-yard run and on a 25-yard pass from Morales (5 of 8 passing, 115 yards).
Bonilla paced the East Union defense with seven tackles followed by Josh Grabowski with five and Daniel Morales with an interception.
Ripon Christian 35,
WATERFORD – Ian Vrieling scored three touchdowns for the Knights.
Vrieling’s three scores came on just five carries totaling 72 yards. Drake Nelson (six carries, 47 yards) had a touchdown as did Declan Van Vuren (three receptions, 64 yards).
Jake Grondz and Nick Ochoa had five stops each for Ripon Christian and Dylan Koolhaas had an interception.
