Sausedo and the Indians started the season last Saturday competing against bigger schools in the 13th annual Dean Andreessen Classic at Veterans Stadium in Merced.

The senior played a big part in leading the varsity boys to a third-place finish (68 points) out of 21 teams. Turlock (106.5) and meet host Golden Valley (99) went 1 and 2.

Sausedo excelled in the two hurdle events and was on the winning relays. He took first in the 300-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 41.84 seconds. It is currently the third fastest overall time in the Sac-Joaquin Section, according to Athletic.net, and ranked No. 1 in Division V. He also placed fifth in the 110 hurdles in 16.92 seconds.

The all-senior quartet of Jack Manning, Norberto Quintero, Jaden Hamilton and Sausedo sprinted to gold in the 4x100 relay, finishing in 45 seconds. Sausedo later joined Omar Alsaidi, Devin Fitzpatrick and Eric Guevara in the mile relay, and the Indians were victorious in 3 minutes, 45.35 seconds.
