The Buffaloes’ 6-foot-4 outside hitter keyed an important two-match week in Valley Oak League action.
Matched against both in-town rivals, the Buffs rolled to two three-set victories.
Steckler especially shined last Thursday when Manteca hosted second-place Sierra, which was swept but put up a good fight. Manteca won, 27-25, 27-25, 25-23.
Steckler finished with 16 kills and four blocks, both team highs. He also had five digs.
Earlier the week, he helped the Buffaloes win at East Union, 25-13, 26-24, 25-10. Steckler led the way with eight kills, three blocks and three aces.
Hampered by injuries to start to the season, Steckler has hit his stride in time for the league season. Manteca is now 4-0 in the VOL and 12-5 overall and on track to garner a third league championship.
