BOYS BASKETBALL: New Sierra coach debuts with win over alma mater Los Banos

The Jalen Bourbon Era is off to a scorching start at Sierra.

A 2011 graduate of Los Banos, Bourbon and the Timberwolves hosted his alma mater on Friday for the season opener for both teams. Sierra made 14 of 30 3-pointers and scored at least 20 points in every quarter on the way to a 90-53 victory.

Five Timberwolves finished in double figures led by Isaiah Revives and Romeo Callender’s 16 points apiece. Revives buried four 3s and added four assists.

Jordan Garcia pumped in 14 points and six assists, Karanbir Bhandal drained four 3s and ended with 13 points, while Anaaf Girma collected 10 points and six offensive rebounds.

 

Junior varsity

Sierra 60, Los Banos 21
The Timberwolves stormed out to a 34-8 halftime lead and cruised from there.

They were spearheaded by a pair of freshmen — Jeremiah Ybona poured in 13 points, while knocking down two 3s, while Jayden Everett pitched in 11 points. Jonah Patterson also had 11 points.
