De la Cruz sets pace for Spartans girls 1st place in Jaguar Relays

TRACY – Lathrop’s Erielle De La Cruz won the triple jump Saturday and placed in two other events to lead the Spartans girls varsity to first place in the Jaguar Relays while the Manteca girls finished second in the Frosh/Soph division at Kimball High School.

 De La Cruz’s mark in the triple jump was 33 feet, 5 ½ inches. Cruz was third in the long jump (16-1) and fourth in the high jump (4-10). Other gold medal winners for Lathrop were Maria Soto (1600 meters, 5 minutes, 45.52 seconds) and Lanicia Ellis, Ashley Gaspar, Alessandra Giordano and Isis Siga in the 4x100 relay (51.53).

 Ellis, Gaspar, Giordano and Siga finished second in the 4x200 relay (1:52.52) and the 4x400 relay (4:42.69). Ashley Gaspar finished fourth in the 100 (12.91) while teammates Paola Baltazar, Tiffany Ormonde, Yolanda Ramirez and Soto finished fifth in the 4x800 relay (11:56.85).

 Olga Perez, Julia Moreno, Abigail Arias and Yasmeen Ramirez placed in three relay events for Manteca – sprint medley (second, 2:01.43), 4x200 relay (fourth, 1:57.76) and 4x100 relay (fifth, 54.42). Teammate Julia Moreno was fourth in the long jump (15-8 ½).

 In boys varsity competition, Weston Ranch’s Brian Arevalo won the 1600 (4:38.66) and was on the fourth-place distance medley (11:50.14) with Jordy Esqueda, Jeremiah Richardson and Ronald Fausto. Teammates Andrew Williams, Fletcher Pitts, Montrell Block and Jeremiah Richardson were third in the 4x200 relay (1:36.50).

 Manteca’s Dominic Favalaro was second in the 110 hurdles (17.28) and Sergio Espinoza, Sunny Dozier, Jacob DeHesus, Nathan Schatmeier were fourth in the 4x100 relay (44.80). Lathrop’s Jeffery Hargraves, Joey Sanchis, Isaac Ramos and Gabriel Hoban finished fourth in the 4x400 relay (3:44.08).

 In frosh/soph action, Weston Ranch’s Fidel Pitts won the 400 and was on the winning 4x200 relay team (1:41.03) and sprint medley (1:43.18) with Aaron James, Joseph Hinkston and  Anthony Pimentel-Ruelas.

 For the Manteca frosh/soph girls, Emily Craighead won the 1600 (5:54.70), Grace Mejorado won the pole vault (7-8) and Craighead, Raveen Nijjar, Emily Densmore, Aleah Melendez won the distance medley (14:12, 46).

 Weston Ranch’s Kaila Comerie, Daria’ Perkins, Lea’sae Smith and Krista Johnson won the sprint medley (2:01.77)

 

Husky Invitational

 SACRAMENTO – Sierra’s Miranda Miller won the pole vault and triple jump while finishing fourth in the long jump at Sheldon High School.

 Miller went 9-6 in the pole vault, 37-7 in the triple jump and 16-7 in the long jump. Dulce Cruz was second in the shot put (34-7) while Raiann Prieto, Luisa Millard, Katelyn Finnicum and Megan Oblin finished fifth in the 4x400 relay (4:31.43).

 For the Sierra boys, Jerardo Salcedo, David Correa, Nicholas Stanley and Daniel Bingham were fourth in the 4x400 relay (3:43.33) and Stanley was fifth in the 110 hurdles (15.54).

 Kimoni Stanley won the frosh/soph 100 (11.64) and Zach Curry the triple jump (38-11 ¼).
