East Union one win from perfect finish

Brooke Riley and the East Union girls golf team is rounding into postseason form in the final week of Valley Oak League play.

On Monday, Riley shot a 3-under 34 on Manteca Park Golf Course’s front nine, as the Lancers rolled visiting Weston Ranch, 217-338.

East Union improved to 13-0 with one match remaining — a road date with Kimball at Old River Golf Course in Tracy. The league tournament is next Tuesday, Oct. 15 at Diablo Grande.

The Lancers had five sub-50 scores. Breanna Perkins finished second with a 44, Jordan Vinson was third with a 45, Brittany Ugalino chipped in a 47 and Brittany Conijn rounded it out with a 48.

Sierra Strambler led Weston Ranch with a 57.



Sierra 239, Lathrop DQ

Low medalist Lexus Barnes finished 8-over-par 32 at French Camp Golf Course on Monday.

Vanessa Rodriguez (47), McKenna Doyle (50), Kayla Wilson (51) and Crystal Rayevich (51) accounted for the rest of the scoring for the Timberwolves, who remain in Sac-Joaquin Section postseason contention with a 9-4 record.

Lathrop did not have the requisite five players to record a team score. Kristina Garcia scored a 55 for the Spartans.



TENNIS

Manteca 7, Kimball 2

Sealy McAdams (6-3, 6-4), Elizabeth Tolbert (6-1, 6-1), Julia Saling (6-1, 6-2), Fechi Nkwocha (7-6 [8-6], 6-3) and Allison Rachels (6-1, 6-2) rolled to straight-set victories to help the Buffaloes move to 11-0 in the VOL. Kimball’s Kylie Moxley swept Liz Dias 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles match.

Manteca’s top doubles team of Katie Indertbizin and Ashlee Miller eked out a 7-6 (7-2), 7-5 win against Tarini Mundunuri and Angela Egbuchaulam. Jasmine Ellington and Kaitlyn Hoyer also won, 6-2, 6-3.

Kimball claimed the No. 3 doubles contest, as Rachel Hall and Maca Cortina battled back to knock off Haylee Both and Monique Sandhu, 5-7, 7-6 (7-2), 10-4.
