GIRLS SOCCER: Indians honor seniors with record-tying 15th shutout

 Ripon is closing in on a seventh straight Trans Valley League championship and has two games left to set a new single-season record for shutouts.

Highlighted by a pair of hat tricks, the Indians crushed Orestimba on senior night Wednesday at Wes Stouffer Field. It’s the 15th clean sheet of the season, tying the record set by the 2007 team.

Ripon (8-1-1 TVL, 17-5-1 overall) play at Sonora on Friday before closing the regular season next Monday at Escalon.

Kylee Machado, Addison Naranjo, Clara Schoolland and Elena Vandenakker were the four seniors honored, and they each got to play the full 80 minutes. Naranjo contributed a goal in the 78th minute, and Vandenakker had two assists.

Sophomores Olivia Ellis and Mia Hendryx notched the hat tricks. Ellis also had two assists, while Hendryx chipped in one.

Allie Grussing, Madelyn McKiernan and Claire Rietkerk netted one goal apiece, while Taylen Dayak, McKenzie Jorgensen, Alena Mallari and Alexis Zamora each handed out an assist.

Goalie Giuliana Locarnini had one save. Ripon outshot Orestimba (0-9-1, 2-14-1), 44-4.
