Christian Guzman celebrated his birthday in fine fashion on the links.
The Lathrop High sophomore fired a one-under-par 35 at the Old River Golf Course on Tuesday, leading his team to a 242-261 win over Weston Ranch in the Valley Oak League match.
His personal-best effort was also enough to impress his coach Cesar Fernandez. “Christian had an eagle on (the par-five) No. 7 – he started with a bogie, par, eagle, birdie, birdie,” he said.
Guzman, who earned medalist honor, finished the day with three birdies.
Lathrop (1-5 VOL, 3-7) also boasted Robby Horrocks and Robert Berndt carding personal bests. Horrocks shot a 46 while Berndt finished with a 49.
They were followed by Andrew Lorentz (56), Curtis Kimbro (56), and Jaylen Adatan (67).
Austin Thao led the Cougars with a 44. Jimmy Sekhon chipped in with a 47.
