One of the leading scorers in the Sac-Joaquin Section, Dayna Koolhaas was named girls soccer MVP in Ripon Christian’s final season in the Southern Athletic League.

She led the Knights (11-1-1, 22-4-1) to a runner-up finish behind Orestimba (13-1, 18-4-2). Ripon Christian went on to claim the SJS Division VI championship, the third in program history. Both schools will compete in the Trans-Valley League next academic year.

Koolhaas is one of three Ripon Christian players to make all-league for a third straight year. The senior striker earned All-SAL honors as a defender her sophomore year. Her 41 goals this season were third most in the SJS.

In 13 league games, Koolhaas amassed 26 goals and eight assists with four hat tricks.

Fellow senior Tara Heida is another three-time All-SAL selection. The goalie had eight clean sheets in league, allowing just three goals. She also racked up 20 saves.

Junior defensive midfielder Addison DeJong tallied five goals and six assists en route to her third all-league honor. Senior midfielder Helia Vander Meulen (two goals, four assists) and senior defender Annika Schoolland round out the Knights’ All-SAL players.

Young wing forwards Brooke Barnes (13 goals, seven assists) and Alanna Blanco (11 goals, five assists) both received honorable mention.

Junior forward Drew Meester was the lone All-SAL selection for Ripon Christian’s boys team (4-8-2, 7-14-3), which finished in fifth place. He accounted for nine of the Knights’ 25 goals scored in league.

Sophomores Aaron Van Hofwegan (two goals) and Lushen Sanders earned honorable mention.
